HOMEWORK

The children will be given homework each week on a Friday to be returned by the Wednesday of the following week. The homework will usually consist of a Maths task, English task, Spellings and Times Tables.  Occasionally the children maybe asked to find out information for a Science or History topic. It is very important that children complete homework tasks and please try to develop their independence with this.  If your child finds any particular task really challenging and you have had to give a lot of support, please write a comment on the sheet/page.

READING

Library Day - Thursday

Each child will be heard reading each week, we expect reading books to be in school every day so this is possible. The children also have sessions where they read other texts as a class and in partners.  Their progress and understanding will be greatly improved if you hear them read for 10 minutes each day and discuss what they have read with them.

It is important that the children not only read the words, but understand the meaning of the words.  Please complete their reading journal to reflect the practise being done at home.  Please note: We do not have a designated day for changing books.  The children can change their school reading book once an adult has signed their reading record to show that the book has been completed.

 CLASS DOJO

Class Dojo is a new way for teachers to encourage students and contact parents about their child's progress in class.  It can be used online or downloaded as an app on iOS and Android devices. Please ask if you require a copy of your log in.
We will be using this in class alongside our Good to be Green system. We will discuss the ways in which points are gained or lost during circle times to ensure that it fits in with our behaviour policy. Children can access at home to personalise their avatars.
